As you can see by the title of this post, it certainly is a question. Apparently some really narrow minded Muslims think that if you get education of the duniya, you won’t have deen and if you get deen education your duniya is crappy. Oh and not to mention if you get duniya education you most probably pray crappy (yeah right).
Some ppl, like my father, think that women don’t need to go to college because according to him women shouldn’t be working and if they go to college, they’ll get a job and neglect the house. So sad because I don’t want to be a nobody and want to study Psychology. Oh and who says you have to get a job if you’ve got an education?
So yeah, yesterday when I asked him if I could sign up for dual enrollment at the local community college, I got a negative answer and perhaps will again. And so I asked him what was so wrong about it and got into a nice half an hour debate and obviously won at the end because he wouldn’t answer my questions at the end. Or couldn’t hehe… mostly like always.
And I realized that most Muslims think like that, mostly desi. No wait, mostly TABLIGHI! Who always make it sound like going to college and studying duniya is Oh So HARAM! Always going on about how what you do in the duniya is of no avail and whatever you do for the akhirah is preserved… Well HELLO, I’ve got to learn both so I can be an effective Dae’e! Yeah, daddy says be a dae’e, you don’t needa go to college.. hmph!
Who says it’s impossible to be an outstanding Muslim along with being an awesome student?! Why is it that he wants my brother to be something big but when it comes to me and my sister, it really doesn’t matter, hey we’re girls! We’re just here to get married have kids, work like a donkey, and that’s life 
But hey, I’m going to keep my spirits high and not care about what people say to put me down with their low standards and one day show them what I’m REALLY made of haha… May Allah grant as Jannatul Firdous and bless us in the duniya as well (with a sound mind, which most people lack).
Anyways, any suggestions on how to convince my dad?
